Ms. Rosen's class studied Native Americans. We found out that the way Native Americans learned about their past was from stories passed down from generation to generation.
We were responsible for conducting interviews with parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc. over the vacations. We used these notes in class to write our own family legends.
Family legends can be about great spirits, how things came to be, nature and people related, trickster stories, ones with lessons or morals, or a combination.
In addition to writing, illustrating and reading these legends to our families, we also created many Native American and Colonial artifacts, which were displayed in our very own artifact museum.
MS. ROSEN'S CLASS LEARNED THAT FOURTH GRADE ISN'T ONLY ABOUT TAKING TESTS!!!
