Ever wondered how fast sound travels?

Sound waves are created by variations of pressure. When you bang a drum, the action causes vibration, leading to changes in the atmosphere that are called sound waves. Sound waves travel at approximately 322 meters per second, which is the equivalent of more than three football fields. But while that may “sound” like a lot of distance, sound waves are actually much slower than light waves.

With summer ending and school starting soon, kids may not be too excited to return to the classroom. Engage them with an infographic like this from Miracle Ear– you might learn something too!
